Sean Kay
Principal & Litigation Attorney
Mr. Kay’s journey begins in Las Vegas, NV, where he was raised amidst the legal world with his father practicing as a Personal Injury Attorney. Inspired by his father’s dedication, he eagerly joined his high school mock trial team, coached by none other than his father himself. Fueled by this early exposure, Mr. Kay pursued his academic path at Arizona State University, where he delved into Business Law, laying a solid foundation for his future endeavors.
His passion for the law only intensified, leading him to Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law, where he excelled, graduating in the top 1/3 of his class and earning prestigious CALI awards. After passing the California and Florida bar exams, Mr. Kay ventured into diverse legal realms, from insurance defense to class action lawsuits, leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of legal excellence.
However, it was a personal injury case for a family friend that ignited his true calling. Realizing a profound connection to advocating for those in need, Mr. Kay, with the support of his father and Mr. Shin, founded Klaw with a singular mission – to revolutionize the personal injury industry, prioritizing the well-being of clients over mere financial gains.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Kay finds joy in various hobbies, from indulging in sports to honing his carpentry skills. Beyond hobbies, Mr. Kay dedicates his spare time to scouting and coaching high school basketball, a testament to his unwavering commitment to his community.

When it comes to his practice, Mr. Shin takes a results driven approach. Strategy, skill, creative thinking, and passion, inform his work. Ensuring his clients interests are fully protected and served is an uncompromised priority for Mr. Shin.
Mr. Shin, a Texan by birth but a Californian at heart, embarked on an academic journey that began at the University of California, Irvine, where he initially pursued pre-med studies fueled by his fascination with science and the human body. However, a newfound passion for oral advocacy led him to pivot towards law school at Chapman University.
During his time at Chapman, Mr. Shin distinguished himself on the moot court team, earning national acclaim as one of the top advocates in the country. His legal prowess was further showcased in a high-profile deportation trial, where, as a law student, he secured a victory after nearly three years of litigation, garnering attention from various media outlets.
Despite not pursuing a medical career, Mr. Shin’s interest in science endured, guiding his focus towards personal injury law, where he could merge his passions. Beyond his legal endeavors, he finds joy in family time, car maintenance, and philanthropic efforts, including pro bono work at legal clinics and serving charitable causes.

Attorney – Of Counsel
Lane S. Kay began his career in the legal field in 1980 after graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. Starting as an associate and eventually building his own successful practice, Lane has spent more than four decades developing extensive courtroom and litigation experience. Throughout his career, he has remained guided by a simple philosophy: treat people with respect and dignity, fight for their rights, and approach every case with honesty and integrity. Lane believes clients deserve to be treated the way he would want to be treated if he or a member of his own family had been injured.
Lane began practicing personal injury and legal malpractice law in California in 1984. In 1994, he relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he continued his personal injury practice and later founded his own firm in 1996. Over the course of his career, Lane has handled a wide range of personal injury matters, representing individuals and families harmed by the negligence of others. In addition to his litigation practice, Lane has served as a court-appointed arbitrator since 2007 and has presided over hundreds of arbitration matters. He is licensed to practice law in both California and Nevada.
Lane now brings decades of litigation experience to the K | Law personal injury team. Working alongside his son, Sean S. Kay, Lane continues to advocate for individuals and families who have been seriously injured, while helping mentor and support the next generation of trial advocacy.
Lane is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization composed of trial lawyers who have achieved million-dollar verdicts or settlements. Membership is limited to fewer than one percent of attorneys in the United States.

Every case begins with a conversation. Schedule a free consultation to discuss your injury, your concerns, and your potential claim. We are here to provide clear answers and experienced guidance from the start.
-
We handle personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis. That means you do not pay any legal fees unless we recover compensation for you. There are no upfront costs, and consultations are free.
-
Insurance companies are focused on minimizing payouts. An experienced injury attorney helps ensure your claim is properly valued, your medical expenses are accounted for, and your rights are protected throughout the process.
-
There are strict deadlines, known as statutes of limitation, that apply to injury cases. The timeframe depends on your state and the type of claim. It is important to speak with an attorney as soon as possible to avoid losing your right to compensation.
-
Every case is different. Some claims resolve in a few months, while others may take longer depending on the severity of injuries, medical treatment, and insurance negotiations. We prioritize thorough preparation and strategic resolution rather than rushing a result.
